Parents, educators, daycare providers, counselors, psycho-therapists, and health care providers use temperament information to successfully create positive interactions for children and the adults who care for them. Knowing temperament concepts can provide effective techniques for working with all children in a variety of settings.

Workshops: Learn about using temperament information in your work with children. Workshops are available for educators, parents, child care providers, therapists, health care providers, and other professionals. Incorporate temperament concepts and strategies into your particular setting. Workshops vary from a two-hour introduction to temperament to a three-day intensive at your site (school, office, or community center).

Consultations: Temperament assessments and consultations are available for children ages 5 months - 12 years of age. Parents complete an extensive temperament questionnaire, which generates a child temperament profile. Based on the results of the profile, parents receive both written advice and a one-hour consultation to determine the best strategies for their child. Phone consultations are also available.

Parenting Classes: Temperament-based parenting classes are available for toddlers, children ages 3 - 6 and ages 7 - 12. Parents learn about temperament, discipline techniques, communication, and socialization. Please check the resource section for  parenting class locations.

Support groups: If you are feeling alone and challenged by your spirited child, join other parents with similar children. Support groups provide parents with the time to discuss current behavioral issues. Please check the resource section for support group locations.

Classroom Observations: If your child or a child in your class is having difficulties in school, temperament may be the cause. Classroom observations identify temperament-related issues and provide effective strategies to improve school success.

University Classes: Temperament and Children's Behavior is offered at Dominican University of California. The class takes an in-depth look at how temperament and other individual differences affect child behavior and development. This class is important for psychology majors, educators, therapists, and others who work with children. See
